RTS completed a study of the economic contributions and potential of Mississippi’s creative economy for the Mississippi Development Authority and Mississippi Arts Commission. The analyses included defining the state’s creative economy, counting its establishments and employment, conducting online surveys of artists, festivals, and manufacturers, interviewing key stakeholders, and completing 12 case studies, with a new contract for five additional case studies. The project included identifying specific cultural or physical attributes of places that can attract tourist, visitors, and talent. The RTS team worked closely with state agencies, including the Department of Tourism, to gather information and formulate recommendations.
